From this transaction, your profit is Rp 600,000 or about 10.53%. This doesn't include broker fees yet. With 10% profit, this is decent for swing trading — but also evaluate whether entry and exit timing was optimal.
How to calculate stock profit?
Profit = (Sell Price - Buy Price) x Number of Shares. Example: buy at 1,000, sell at 1,200, own 1,000 shares = profit Rp 200,000. Profit percentage = (price difference / buy price) x 100%.
Should broker fees be included?
Yes. Broker fees (buy + sell fee) reduce net profit. Buy fee is typically 0.15% and sell fee 0.25% (including tax). For active trading, fees can be significant and must be considered.
What's the difference between nominal and percentage profit?
Nominal profit is the rupiah amount earned (e.g., Rp 500,000). Percentage profit shows capital efficiency (e.g., 10%). Percentage is more useful for comparing performance across transactions, since capital used may vary.
Why is regular profit/loss evaluation important?
Regular evaluation helps you know if your trading strategy is consistently profitable. Without it, you can't tell if gains are from skill or luck — and if losses are from bad strategy or poor execution.
