Market Cap is the simplest way to know 'how big' a company is in the market's eyes. It's not about per-share price — it's about the total value the market assigns to the entire company.
Market Capitalization (Market Cap) = Share Price x Shares Outstanding. If BBCA's share price is Rp10,000 and there are 24 billion shares, market cap is Rp240 trillion. In Indonesia, stocks are commonly grouped: Big Cap (>Rp50T), Mid Cap (Rp10-50T), Small Cap (<Rp10T).
If you want to buy an entire noodle shop chain, market cap is the total price of the chain — not the price of one bowl. Two shops might sell noodles at the same price, but if one has 100 branches and the other just 1, the 'total value' is vastly different.
BBCA is the largest company by market cap in Indonesia, reaching hundreds of trillions of Rupiah. This makes it a big cap stock. Big cap stocks are generally more stable and liquid, suitable for investors seeking stability. Small cap stocks are more volatile but have higher return potential.
